Class 4: The Authentic Self in New York

Last night in New York we had the class focused on the emergence of the Authentic Self. What struck me most was the importance of recognizing the reality of the authentic self as a manifestation of evolution. The emergence of the authentic self, which in the teaching of evolutionary enlightenment is defined as the part of us that is profoundly inspired to develop to higher levels of consciousness, is the leading edge of the evolutionary impulse as it is experienced in the human form. As we spoke in class it was clear that we are complex objects of matter that whose arrangement has become highly organized enough to support not only consciousness, but more importantly self-consciousness. In this form we have the opportunity to be conscious of the evolution of life and to recognize ourselves to be part of that evolution. This has dramatic implications for further development. It turns a blind process into one that can be consciously guided...conscious evolution. Making the distinction between the authentic self and the ego with everyone in class over and over again was part of the process of becoming more conscious of ourselves as the authentic self.

Hello Jeff and everyone!! I love what you wrote after Monday's class about ego and the authentic self. You also spent some time speaking about a third element….the chooser, which is of course , all of us. This may be a small example but after returning home from that class I was answering an email where I had to make a choice about something. I began to contemplate the chooser that sees both the authentic self and the ego….this contemplation led me to inwardly step back … which automatically sees a bigger picture. This bigger picture literally saw “streams” or “lines” of Karma (energy reaching into infinity ) that would be created out of either choice ……I had never seen this before..(maybe your charts in class helped here). I was able to choose the authentic response and then hit the enter key on my computer. It was shocking to see how the seemingly small action of making a choice online and hitting the enter key was not small at all. Thank you for this powerful class….it gave me a tangible example of freedom. Birgit
The class at Foxhollow was so powerful. Jeff, when you kept asking us to look into our experience in the moment and see that we were constantly refering to some point in the future, everything got more and more magnified. You were telling us that by focussing on taking what we were learning in class into the future to implement and then develop from was actually the ego expressing doubt in the potential to change in the very moment we were in. It got to the point where all I could do was look at your eyes or your mouth talking and listen with all my heart, because any other movement seemed like I was jetting off into some far off tunnel where I could not hear you anymore and where separation was alive. This seemed to be the experience of the whole group. Energetically, the room was pulsating and when anyone spoke it was with force and clarity. This inquiry was being fed by all of the clips of Andrew's and then BAM! You spoke about the choosing faculty and that there is only this one moment, now. The Authentic Self is not going to talk about how to change in the future, it's acting now for the future. This has been blowing my mind and informing my actions since that class. love, Diane
The teachings of the authentic self and the ego are so powerful, I am constantly amazed by the miracle of just contemplating them.
