Jeff Carreira is the director of education at EnlightenNext, a pioneering organization that seeks, through the spiritual and philosophical teaching of Evolutionary Enlightenment, to catalyze a shift in human consciousness. EnlightenNext offers courses, seminars, retreats, and various online and virtual forums to increase understanding of how consciousness evolves, to develop human potential, and to create a new culture based on higher shared values.

Carreira has been at the forefront of this work for over a decade and has become an accessible and popular public representative of EnlightenNext. He teaches and speaks in the United States and Europe and has also been an occasional contributing writer to EnlightenNext magazine. He is the founder and cohost of an internet radio program called the EnlightenNext Weekly Webcast, which promotes discussion and conversation about how human beings can work together to create a new future.

Carreira originally received an undergraduate degree in physics, and spent five years working as a research engineer in a telecommunications firm before realizing that life's deepest questions could not be answered through science alone. He then decided to work in a more humanitarian field and received an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction, after which he spent seven years working in special education as a teacher and school administrator.

It was during the time that he worked as an educator that Carreira met Andrew Cohen, spiritual teacher and founder of EnlightenNext. During his sixteen years of association with EnlightenNext, Carreira has acted successfully in a variety of prominent roles. In 1994 he was one of the founding members of the spiritual center EnlightenNext Boston. From 1998 to 2001, he served as EnlightenNext's marketing director. In 2001, Carreira was asked to be Andrew Cohen's personal assistant, a role he continues to fill in part today. And in 2005 he became the organization's director of education.

In his role as education director, Carreira has created a robust educational program by designing and teaching courses and training more than eighty teachers of Evolutionary Enlightenment from around the world. He has also built a strong membership program by tapping the educational and communications potential of online and telecommunications technologies.

Carreira believes that human beings at the start of the twenty-first century need to create a strong sense of global community founded in philosophical and spiritual values and united in the effort to evolve to higher possibilities of consciousness and culture. He lives as part of an intentional community at the EnlightenNext World Center in Lenox, Massachusetts, and continues to work to educate and connect people who are interested in the profound potential of consciousness evolution.
